Toronto Blue Jays starter Jameson Taillon left Friday’s start against the Kansas City Royals after 29 pitches with right elbow discomfort.
Taillon completed two innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one before exiting.
Joe Mantiply came out to start the third inning with the Jays leading 5-1.
The 34-year-old was activated from the injured list earlier on Friday after spending nearly a month out of action due to right forearm tendinitis.
Entering Friday’s start, his third with the Blue Jays, In two starts with the Blue Jays, the veteran righty had a 3.38 ERA and 1.50 WHIP while recording seven strikeouts over 8.0 innings with Toronto.
Taillon was carrying a 5.96 earned run average and a 1.39 WHIP, collecting 72 strikeouts to 28 walks across 80 innings in 17 starts between the Chicago Cubs and Blue Jays this season.
