The Toronto Blue Jays selected pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson to the major league roster and optioned Davis Schneider to Triple-A Buffalo in a series of moves on Monday afternoon.
Woods Richardson will be active for tonight’s game against the Boston Red Sox.
The Jays also recalled infielder Charles McAdoo from Buffalo and optioned reliever Lazaro Estrada.
Outfielder Rudy Martin Jr. cleared waivers and was also optioned to Buffalo, while catcher Willie MacIver has been designated for assignment.
Woods Richardson has a 6.40 ERA this season in 57.2 innings between the Jays and Minnesota Twins this season. The 25-year-old has not allowed an earned run in 10.0 relief innings since being acquired by the Blue Jays on June 3.
Schneider, 27, is carrying a .143 batting average in the majors this season with three home runs and 12 RBI in 61 games. He has a .504 on-base percentage and .986 OPS in 30 games in Triple -A.
Estrada, 27, has a 4.50 ERA in 12 major league innings with eight strikeouts. He earned his first career save against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night.
