The Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams interested in trading for Arizona Diamondbacks star infielder Ketel Marte, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Heyman reports the Boston Red Sox are also interested and adds that talks are happening but nothing is heating up at the moment. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale wrote over the weekend that the Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays also had interest in acquiring the 11-year veteran.

Heyman previously reproted the Jays had interest in Japanese slugger Kazuma Okamoto, who was posted last month by NPB’s Yomiuri Giants and has until Jan. 4 to sign with an MLB team.

The 32-year-old Marte has been an All-Star in each of the last two seasons and has five years remaining on a six-year, $116.5 million deal he signed earlier this year. He is owed $16 million next season and carries a luxury tax hit of $19.4 million.

Marte slashed .283/.376/.517 with 28 home runs and 72 RBI in 126 games for Arizona in 2025. He finished third in National League MVP voting with 36 homers and a .932 OPS the season before.

A native of Nizao in the Dominican Republic, Marte is a three-time All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner and won NL Championship Series MVP in 2023 during the D-Backs’ run to the World Series.

He is a career .281 hitter with an .823 OPS.
