Luis Robert Jr. is headed back to the American League.
SNY’s Chelsea Janes reports the Baltimore Orioles have claimed the outfielder off waivers from the New York Mets.
An All-Star in 2023, Robert had spent the first six years of his career with the Chicago White Sox.
Acquired by the Mets in January in a trade with the Pale Hose, Robert appeared in 58 games for the Mets this season. He was batting .223 with 43 hits in 198 at-bats, 10 home runs, 23 runs batted in and an OPS of .702.
A 29-year-old native of Ciego de Avila, Cuba, Robert is in the final year of a seven-year, $70 million deal. He has a $20 million club option for 2027.
The Orioles (68-69) are one game behind the Cleveland Guardians for the final wild-card spot in the American League.
