Nolan Arenado homered and right-hander Michael Soroka moved into a tie for the MLB lead in wins among starters with his fourth of the season as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3 Friday night.


MLB: Orioles 6, Guardians 4

Jeremiah Jackson's three-run homer capped Baltimore's six-run outburst in the eighth inning against Cleveland's bullpen, sending the Orioles to a 6-4 win over the Guardians on Friday night.


MLB: Tigers 0, Red Sox 1 (10)

Pinch-hitter Masataka Yoshida singled over a drawn-in, five-man infield, scoring Jarren Duran from third base with one out in the 10th inning, as the Boston Red Sox beat Detroit 1-0 on Friday night, snapping the Tigers' six-game winning streak.


MLB: Royals 2, Yankees 4

Ryan McMahon came off the bench and broke out of his season-long slump with a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning as the New York Yankees beat the skidding Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Friday night.


MLB: Mets 4, Cubs 12

The Mets lost 12-4 to the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field, falling to 7-13 on the season. It is their 9th consecutive loss — the longest losing streak the franchise has endured since 2004.


MLB: Blue Jays 1, Brewers 2

Patrick Corbin had a much better start in his second game on the mound for the Jays allowing four hits and one run through 5 and 2/3 innings all while striking out six batters, but the Blue Jays' bats stayed cold while the Brewers capitalized on three straight bunts in the seventh to beat Toronto and win the series.


MLB: Nationals 8, Pirates 7 (10)

James Wood singled to score automatic runner Jorbit Vivas in the 10th inning and the Nationals edged the Pirates on Thursday. Reliever Clayton Beeter got his first career win despite giving up the ninth-inning run that sent the game to an extra inning.


MLB: Royals 9, Tigers 10

Riley Greene doubled home two runs to tie the score with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, and Colt Keith followed with the winning single as the streaking Tigers rallied past the Royals.


MLB: Orioles 2, Guardians 4

Parker Messick took a no-hitter into the ninth inning and José Ramírez homered for the third time in four games as the Guardians opened a seven-game homestand with a victory over the Orioles.


MLB: Giants 3, Reds 0

Landen Roupp allowed one hit in six innings and Matt Chapman had an RBI double to spark a three-run rally in the seventh to help the Giants beat the Reds Thursday. Connor Phillips was ejected in the eighth for intentionally hitting Willy Adames with a pitch after Roupp plunked Spencer Steer in the second.


MLB: Angels 11, Yankees 3

Mike Trout crushed his fifth home run of the series and the Angels overcame a homer by Aaron Judge in their victory over the Yankees on Thursday afternoon for a four-game split. Trout homered in his fifth straight game at Yankee Stadium and became the fourth to hit five homers in a series against New York.


MLB: Mets 2, Dodgers 8

Shohei Ohtani pitched one-run ball over six innings and struck out 10 in a game which he did not also bat since 2021, and the Dodgers routed the Mets Wednesday night, sending New York to its eighth straight loss. Dalton Rushing, who replaced Ohtani as designated hitter, hit his first career grand slam in the eighth inning.


MLB: Blue Jays 1, Brewers 2

William Contreras hit the only ball out of the infield during a two-run rally in the eighth inning as the Brewers snapped a six-game skid with a victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday night. Toronto wasted a brilliant performance from Dylan Cease, who struck out six and allowed two hits and three walks in six shutout innings.


MLB: Angels 4, Yankees 5

Jose Caballero laced a two-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning that gave the Yankees a victory over the Angels, moments after Los Angeles botched an infield popup in a costly misplay Wednesday night. Aaron Judge hit his third homer of the series and Trent Grisham had a two-run single for New York, which won for only the second time in eight games.
