Report: DeRozan a free agent after being waived by Kings

DeMar DeRozan is on the open market as a free agent after being waived by the Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The 36-year-old guard, who spent the first nine years of his career with the Toronto Raptors before he was famously traded to the San Antonio Spurs for superstar Kawhi Leonard in 2018, averaged 18.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists alongside a 49.7 field goal percentage over 77 games in 2025-26, his second season in Sacramento.

DeRozan is a six-time All-Star and has averaged 21.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists over 1,264 career games with the Raptors, Spurs, Chicago Bulls and Kings.

The Raptors selected DeRozan with the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft as the USC product led Toronto to five straight postseason appearances from 2014 to 2018, including an appearance in the Eastern Conference Final in 2016.

DeRozan, a 17-year NBA veteran, made four All-Star appearances with the Raptors and holds many franchise records, including games played and points scored.
