Quarterback Dante Moore is officially out for Saturday's matchup between No. 13 Oregon and No. 21 UCLA, according to Wednesday's official Big Ten injury report.
On Monday, head coach Dan Lanning said Moore was back at practice in pads and throwing two weeks after sustaining a concussion against USC, but he did not elaborate on a timeline for a return game action.
Former Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola, who replaced Moore and threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns during the win against the Trojans, is now set to start his first game at quarterback for the Ducks.
"He had an expectation when he stepped out there on the field and performed at a really, really high level," Lanning said Wednesday of Raiola. "Everybody had confidence in him because they see him do it a lot in practice."
Lanning added Wednesday that the offense has been "business as usual" with Raiola under center. In three seasons, two full ones at Nebraska and his current stint at Oregon, Raiola has thrown for 5,232 yards and 36 touchdowns as well as 17 interceptions. As a starter, Raiola has a 13-9 record.
With Moore's future status beyond this week's game still uncertain, Lanning has also remained adamant that the team would take its time with his recovery and not rush him. The luxury of being able to have Raiola as a plug-and-play backup -- a former five-star recruit, no less -- is proving to be extremely valuable for an Oregon team that has championship aspirations.
"We're going to continue to make sure we do what's best for Dante as we move forward," Lanning said. "But it was great to see him back out there with his teammates and able to do a little work."
During the game against USC on Sept. 26, Moore attempted to slide after scrambling up the field before he was hit late by linebacker Desman Stephens II. Moore was checked by the athletic training staff on the field before being taken by an ambulance to Los Angeles General Medical Center for evaluation. Moore's MRI and CT scans at the time came back clean.
Moore, who was widely projected to be a top pick in the 2026 NFL draft before returning to Oregon for his senior year, entered the season as a preseason Heisman Trophy contender. In four games, he has 926 passing yards and nine touchdowns.
