The New York Giants’ Jevón Holland has earned himself an honour early into the season

The Coquitlam, BC-born safety was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September.

Holland, 26, appeared in all three games for the 2-1 Giants in September. He’s recorded 12 tackles, one fumble recovery and a league-leading three interceptions. He’s picked off a pass in all three games.

A product of Oregon, Holland is in his sixth NFL season and second with the Giants following four with the Miami Dolphins. The three picks is already a career-high. He’s twice recorded seasons with two interceptions in the past.

In the AFC, the DPOM honour went to Buffalo Bills defensive end Greg Rousseau.

The 26-year-old Rousseau has been a lethal pass-rushing weapon in the Bills’ 3-0 start to the season. The Miami product, also in his sixth campaign, has 15 tackles, three forced fumbles and an NFL-best 6.0 sacks thus far. His career-high sacks is 8.0.
