The Browns are expected to receive promising edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft pick and other draft-pick compensation, per Schefter.
Garrett, 30, has been a transformative force on the Browns’ defence since he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The 10th-year player has 125.5 career sacks, and set an NFL record for sacks in a single season with 23 this past year.
That record helped Garrett take home his second career Defensive Player of the Year award, after he also won following the 2023-24 season.
Garrett is a five-time First-Team All-Pro player, and has made seven Pro Bowls in his decorated career.
Verse, 25, was selected with the 19th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and won Defensive Rookie of the Year honours two seasons ago after accumulating 4.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in helping the Rams to the playoffs. He is a two-time Pro Bowler in two seasons.
More to come.
