Kayshon Boutte’s exit from the New England Patriots has finally come to pass.
The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reports the team has dealt the wide receiver to the Houston Texans in exchange for safety Jaylen Reed.
Boutte, 24, had reportedly asked for a trade during the offseason. He now joins a Texans team coming off of a torn ACL to receiver Jayden Higgins.
A native of New Iberia, LA, Boutte heads into his fourth NFL season out of LSU. He appeared in 34 games for the Pats, recording 78 receptions on 121 targets for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns. He had a career-high six TDs last season.
Reed, 23, was a sixth-round pick in 2025 out of Penn State. He played in seven games for the Texans last season. He registered 14 tackles with 12 of those coming in a 23-19 win over the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 20.
The Texans open up their regular season on Sept. 13 at home to the Bills. The defending AFC champion Pats start their 2026 campaign against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 9 in a Super Bowl rematch.
