Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar will have a hearing Friday for an illegal check to the head of New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat.
The incident occurred late in the third period of the Islanders’ 4-1 win over the Blackhawks on Thursday. As Horvat shot the puck from his own end for an empty-net goal, Nazar delivered a high hit on the Islanders captain.
A scrum broke out between the two teams and Nazar was given a match penalty after review.
Horvat appeared to be alright after the hit, though he did not a take another shift with just 93 seconds left after his empty-netter.
The 22-year-old Nazar leads Chicago with two goals through five games while adding an assist thus far.
In 127 career games with the Blackhawks, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound centre has recorded 30 goals and 41 assists for 71 points.
