Canucks take F Novotny with 24th-overall selection in NHL Draft

The Vancouver Canucks selected forward Adam Novotny with the 24th-overall pick in the NHL Draft on Friday.

Novotny, 18, scored 34 goals and added 65 points in 58 games with the Peterborough Petes in the OHL this past season.

A native of Kobylice, Czechia, Novotny is the first player from Czechia taken in this draft. he made appearances with Czechia in the World Juniors each of the past two years, helping guide the team to a bronze medal in 2025 and a silver medal in this year’s tournament.

Novotny is the second player to be selected by the Canucks in this draft, after the team selected Caleb Malhotra with the third-overall choice in the first round.

Novotny and Malhotra will be relied upon to help jumpstart a rebuild for a Canucks team that bottomed out in 2026 after finishing atop the pacific Division as recently as 2024.
