The Washington Capitals announced that goaltender Cal Petersen will join training camp on a professional tryout agreement.
Petersen spent last season with the AHL’s Iowa Wild where he appeared in 33 games and posted a 2.73 goals-against average with an .896 save percentage.
The 31-year-old last played in the NHL in 2023-24 with the Philadelphia Flyers and posted a 3.90 GAA and .864 save percentage in five games.
The Waterloo, Iowa native has appeared in 106 career NHL games (98 starts) with the Flyers and Los Angeles Kings and has a 46-44-10 record with a 2.96 GAA and .903 save percentage.
He was originally selected in the fifth round (129th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2013 NHL Draft.
