New Jersey Devils forward Evan Rodrigues has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable amount under the CBA, for high-sticking Vancouver Canucks forward Marco Rossi in Saturday’s 4-1 win.

Rodrigues was assessed a double minor on the play.

The incident occurred during a faceoff at centre ice, where Rodrigues responded to a shove from Rossi by raising his stick into Rossi’s throat.

The 33-year-old Rodrigues has been held pointless in four games this season.

The Devils hold a 2-2-0 record early this season with their next game coming Monday against the Ottawa Senators.
