Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Poehling is expected to miss between 6-to-8 weeks with an MCL sprain, the team announced Tuesday.
The Ducks placed Poehling on injured reserve earlier in the day and brought up former 2025 No. 10 overall pick Roger McQueen in a corresponding move.
The 27-year-old Poehling left Saturday’s game against the Calgary Flames in the third period. Poehling was driving the net on a rush and was tripped by a Flames defender, causing his right knee to crash hard into the post.
Poehling stayed down in obvious pain and required help leaving the ice and getting down the tunnel. He had one goal and one assist in 11:49 of action before exiting in Anaheim’s 4-2 victory.
Those were Poehling’s first two points of the season in five games. He had 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 75 games last season.
McQueen, 20, has three goals in four games this season and has yet to make his NHL debut.
