Flames’ F Honzek out week-to-week with lower-body injury

Published:

Calgary Flames forward Samuel Honzek is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury, the team announced on Monday.

Honzek, 21, last appeared during the team’s 7-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, where he registered a shot on 15:53 of ice time with a minus-2 rating.

The 6-foot-4 winger already missed Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks with the injury.

Honzek has yet to record a point in four games in what he hopes is his first full season in the NHL. He registered two goal and four points in 18 games with the Flames last season.

The Flames drafted Honzek 16th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft and he put up eight goals and 21 points in 52 games with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers last season, his first full season of professional hockey.

He also represented Slovakia at the 2025 World Hockey Championship, putting up a goal and two points in six games in an 11th place finish.

Calgary has struggled out of the game this season, sitting last in the NHL with an 0-5-0 record. They will take on the Ducks on Tuesday in the second half of a home-and-home series.
