Hischier, Josi among 25 players named to Switzerland’s Olympic team

New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier and Nashville Predators defenceman Roman Josi are among the 25 players named to Team Switzerland for the upcoming 2026 Olympics in Milan.

Hischier and Josi are among the 10 NHL players on the roster, including forwards Kevin Fiala (Los Angeles), Philipp Kurashev (San Jose), Timo Meier (New Jersey), Nino Niederreiter (Winnipeg), Pius Suter (St. Louis) as well as defencemen J.J. Moser and Jonas Siegenthaler (New Jersey) and goaltender Akira Schmid (Vegas).

Switzerland is in Group A for the Olympic tournament with Canada, Czechia and France.

Switzerland finished in eighth place at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. They last medaled in men’s hockey in 1948 with a bronze medal.

The Swiss have won back-to-back silver medals at the IIHF men’s World Championships.

This is the first time NHL players are skating in the Olympics since 2014 in Sochi, Russia. The tournament runs from Feb. 11 to 22.
