The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed goaltender Cayden Primeau off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs, it was announced Saturday afternoon.

The 26-year-old was 2-1-0 in three games this season with Toronto. He had a 4.30 goals-against average and an .839 save percentage.

The Leafs waived Primeau on Friday and Dennis Hildeby is serving as the backup behind Anthony Stolarz for Saturday’s game against the Boston Bruins. He was recalled from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on Saturday.

Primeau spent the first six years of his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens. He owns an .882 save percentage and 3.73 GAA in a total of 58 games played over parts of seven NHL seasons.

More to come.
