The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to a two-year, $7.9 contract extension that carries an annual cap hit of $3.95 million on Friday.
The deal will pay Kochetkov $2.4 million with a $1.5 million signing bonus for the 2027-28 season and $3 million with a $1 million signing bonus in 2028-29.
Kochetkov missed the majority of the 2025-26 season due to a lower-body injury. In eight regular-season appearances, he went 6-2-0 with an .899 save percentage and 2.33 goals-against average.
Drafted in the second round (36th overall) by Carolina in 2019, the 27-year-old won the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes last season.
“Pyotr is an incredibly talented goalie whose aggressive style fits our team very well,” said Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky. “We believe in his ability to win games for this organization and are thrilled he wants to continue helping us pursue championships in Carolina.”
He was previously named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team and won the Calder Cup in 2022 with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.
