Captain Alex Ovechkin participated in pracitce on Thursday as he continues to recover from a lower-body injury that has had him out day-to-day, according to Tarik El-Bashir of the Monumental Sports Network.
Ovechkin also began practice on Wednesday, but left the ice shortly after drills began. He previously missed the last two practices due to injury.
The 41-year-old winger is entering his 22nd NHL season and had 32 goals and 64 points in 82 games last year,
The Capitals open the 2026-27 campaign on Oct. 2 against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.
