The Winnipeg Jets have updated defenceman Josh Morrissey’s status to week-to-week after he was previously labelled day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Jets head coach Scott Arniel said Thursday that Morrissey still will not require surgery on the injury.
Morrissey was first hurt in last week’s 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche when he missed a bodycheck and went straight into the boards. He appeared to be holding his right hand as he left the ice.
The 31-year-old has three assists in four games this season after recording 55 points in 77 games last season.
The Jets are off to a 4-1-1 start to the season despite being without star netminder Connor Hellebuyck, who is suspended without pay for failure to report, and more recently Morrissey.
Winnipeg will visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
