The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed defenceman Tyrel Bauer to a two-year, $1.75 million contract that carries an annual cap hit of $850,000, the team announced on Monday.
Bauer’s new contract is a two-way deal for the 2026-27 campaign and shifts to a one-way contract for the 2027-28 season.
The 24-year-old blueliner was drafted 164th overall by the Jets in the 2020 draft and played last season with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, recording a goal and five points in 52 games with a plus-11 rating.
Bauer has played four season in Manitoba, registering five goals and 21 points in 214 career AHL games.
The 6-foot-4, right-shot defenceman played for the Western Hockey League’s Seattle Thunderbirds prior to being drafted by the Jets, serving as captain for the 2021-22 campaign.
He helped his Thunderbirds reach the WHL Championship Series that season before falling to the Edmonton Oil Kings in the final.
