Toronto Maple Leafs forward Kirill Marchenko did not waste time getting on the board against his former team.
The 26-year-old scored a power play goal in the first period against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
With the Leafs trailing 1-0, Marchenko crashed the net with the man advantage and deflected a pass from Auston Matthews past goaltender Jet Greaves to even the score at the 8:16 mark of the frame.
Marchenko returned to Nationwide Arena for the first time since the Blue Jackets granted his trade request and sent him the Maple Leafs alongside forward Miles Wood and goalie Elvis Merzlikins in a deal for forwards Matthew Knies and Steven Lorentz, defenceman Emil Andrae and a second-round pick in the 2027 Draft.
The Barnaul, Russia native has five goals and six assists in 11 games with the Maple Leafs this season.
Marchenko led the Blue Jackets in goals in each of the last three seasons with a career high of 31 in 2024-25.
