M. Tkachuk, Sens’ Cousins fined for incidents in Brady’s return to Ottawa

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk and Ottawa Senators forward Nick Cousins were both fined Thursday for incidents in Wednesday’s clash between their two teams.

The Senators’ 5-1 win on Wednesday was headlined by the crowd’s reaction to Brady Tkachuk’s return to Ottawa. His older brother Matthew has been fined $5,000 for roughing Senators forward Dylan Cozens in the loss.

Tkachuk picked up a two-minute minor for high-sticking in the second period and two roughing penalties in the third-period, one for the incident with Cozens and another for an altercation with Senators forward Ridly Greig.

Cousins was fined $4,091.49 for unsportsmanlike conduct towards an opponent while on Ottawa’s bench. He was given a roughing minor and a 10-minute misconduct for the incident with just over three and half minutes remaining in the game.

Both fines were the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement.

The Panthers and Senators combined for 84 penalty minutes in the charged affair Wednesday. The two teams are set to meet again in Florida on Nov. 25.
