The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled forward Miles Wood from the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies on Friday.
Wood, 31, was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets on the eve of the season opener as part of the Matthew Knies-Kirill Marchenko blockbuster.
The Buffalo native scored eight goals and added six assists over 54 games with the Blue Jackets last season, his 11th year in the NHL.
Wood, who had yet to appear in a game with the Marlies this season, has tallied 99 goals and 97 assists over 567 career games with the New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche and Blue Jackets.
A fourth-round pick of the Devils in 2013, Wood is in the fourth season of a six-year, $15 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $2.5 million.
The Maple Leafs dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday to fall to 2-2-1 season. They continue their three-game road trip against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
