Penguins sign recently acquired F Lapierre to two-year, $2.6 million deal

The Pittsburgh Penguins signed restricted free agent forward Hendrix Lapierre to a two-year, $2.6 million contract that carries an annual cap hit of $1.3 million on Friday.

Pittsburgh acquired Lapierre’s rights from the Washington Capitals on June 25 in exchange for two draft picks.

Lapierre, 24, recorded four goals and 16 points in 74 games with the Capitals last season.

The 6-foot centre is coming off a one-year, $850,000 contract.

Selected 22nd overall in the 2020 draft, the Gatineau, Que. native has 13 goals and 47 points in 158 points— all with the Capitals .
