The New York Rangers have claimed defenceman Vincent Iorio off waivers from the San Jose Sharks, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.

This is the second time Iorio has been claimed off waivers this season. On Oct. 15, he was placed on waivers by the Washington Capitals and then was claimed by the Sharks.

In 21 games with the Sharks this season, the 23-year-old had three assists. He also appeared in six contests with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, where he had seven assists.

A second-round pick (55th overall) in 2021 by Washington, Iorio played nine NHL games over two seasons with the Capitals, recording one assist.

He helped the team’s AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, capture back-to-back Calder Cup championships in 2023 and 2024.

Iorio is in the final season of his three-year, entry-level contract.
