The New York Rangers have signed restricted free agent defenceman Braden Schneider to a one-year, $5.5 million contract on Monday.
Schneider, 24, had two goals and 18 points in 82 games with the New York Rangers last season while averaging 20:27 of ice time.
The 6-foot-3, right-shot defenceman is coming off a two-year $4.4 million deal that carried a cap hit of $2.2 million.
Drafted 19th overall by the Rangers in 2020, Schneider has 20 goals and 87 points in 368 career games.
The Prince Albert, Sask., native represented Canada at the 2021 World Hockey Championship, taking home a gold medal. He also represented his country at the 2021 World Juniors, winning a silver medal.
