The New York Rangers are close to signing forward Eeli Tolvanen to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million, according to multiple reports.
Per The Athletic’s Peter Baugh, the deal was reported by a league source who spoke anonymously to discuss negotiations that were not yet public.
The 27-year-old Tolvanen is entering his ninth NHL season and spent the past three-and-a-half campaigns with the Seattle Kraken. He finished with 12 goals and 36 points in 78 games in this past season with Seattle.
Tolvanen was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators with the 30th-overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, and played 135 games with Nashville before he was put on waivers and selected by the Kraken midway through the 2022-23 season.
Tolvanen represented Finland at the World Juniors three times in his career from 2017-19, and has played for Finland at the Olympics twice in his career - in 2018 and most recently at Milano-Cortina in 2026, where he scored a goal and finished with three points in five games.
In 423 career NHL games with Seattle and Nashville, Tolvanen has 92 goals and 190 points.
