Travis Green is sticking behind the Ottawa Senators bench for the foreseeable future.

The team announced a multi-year extension for their head coach on Monday. Green is now signed through 2030-2031.

“When I was in the search to identify our head coach two years ago, it was clear to me that Travis had the qualities to move our team forward,” Sens general manager Steve Staois said in a statement. “I have watched him implement systems and structures that have reinforced my belief in his coaching abilities. We share the same vision and philosophy and are confident we can continue to build on our team.”

The team also announced extensions for Nolan Baumgartner, Ben Sexton, Mike Yeo and goaltending coach Justin Peters.

Green, 55, is in his third season with the team, having led the team to playoff appearances in the previous two. His 95 regular-season victories are level for fifth all-time among the Sens’ 14 head coaches in franchise history.

Prior to joining the Sens, Green spent time as bench boss of the New Jersey Devils in 2024 and five seasons as head coach with the Vancouver Canucks from 2017 to 20222. His all-time mark across nine seasons is 236-219-53 (.517).

As a player, Green suited up in 970 across 14 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes and New York Islanders. The Creston, BC native had 193 goals and 262 assists.

Internationally, Green played for Canada at three IIHF World Championships, including as part of a gold medal-winning effort in Helsinki in 1997.

The Senators (6-3) return to action on Wednesday with a visit from Brady Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers.
