Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark was pulled in the third period of their game against the Florida Panthers after suffering a lower-boy injury after making a save.
Per Postmedia’s Bruce Garrioch, Senators head coach Travis Green confirmed after the game that Ullmark suffered a lower-body injury, but could not confirm the severity of the injury, only to say that Ullmark will be evaluated on Thursday.
With 16:25 remaining in the game, and the Senators leading 3-1, Ullmark extended his leg to make a routine deflection on a puck sliding toward the net.
After deflecting the puck out of the crease with his right pad, Ullmark slumped over. He was tended to by the Senators training staff after play was whistled dead.
Ullmark was eventually helped off the ice and taken to the locker room.
Backup netminder Samuel Ersson took his spot in net in relief.
Ullmark allowed a goal in the first period when he was beaten by Brady Tkachuk on the power play in Tkachuk’s first return to the Canadian Tire Centre as a visitor with the Panthers.
The 33-year-old Ullmark entered this game with a sparkling 1.33 goals-against average and a .945 save percentage in seven starts on the young season. This is his third season in Ottawa after stints with the Buffalo Sabres ad Boston Bruins.
The Senators would go on to win the game 5-1.
