Maple Leafs hire former Senators rival Alfredsson as associate coach

In a surprising turn of events, Ottawa Senators legend Daniel Alfredsson is joining the Toronto Maple Leafs as an associate coach, the team announced on Tuesday. The Maple Leafs also named former Toronto Marlies bench boss John Gruden and Brad Werenka to the coaching staff as assistants.


Senators and Giroux agree to one-year contract

The Ottawa Senators have agreed to terms with forward Claude Giroux on a one-year contract, the team announced on Tuesday. The contract carries a base salary of $2 million for next season with bonuses that could reach a maximum value of $5 million.


Flames sign Nemec to five-year, $36.25M contract

The Flames have signed restricted free agent defenceman Simon Nemec to a five-year, $36.25 million contract that carries a cap hit of $7.25 million. Nemec was acquired from the Devils, along with forward Maksim Tsyplakov, on June 23 in exchange for two first-round picks and an additional second-rounder.


Andersen excited to reunite with Babcock and play in three-goalie rotation

Frederik Andersen spoke to the media for the first time since joining the Oilers, and spoke about his decision to join Edmonton, and says he has had nothing but good experiences with head coach Mike Babcock. Andersen is expected to share time in the net with Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi. Edmonton's new goalie sees it as a positive with the demanding schedule to keep the guys fresh ahead of a playoff run.


Oilers goalie Andersen reassured knee injury won't need any surgery

Fresh off of a Stanley Cup win, Frederik Andersen left Carolina to sign in Edmonton. During the Final, Andersen stopped being the starter after revealing that he was dealing with a knee injury. The new Oilers goalie said that there shouldn't be any issues heading into training camp after exit medical evaluations.


Ducks’ Carlsson signs five-year, $90M offer sheet with Flyers
