Everything that could go wrong did for Leafs in disastrous season

This year was always going to be different in Toronto because of who wasn't here anymore. Mitch Marner was gone, but certainly not forgotten. Coming off the longest playoff run in the Auston Matthews era, the Leafs believed they could maintain their 100-point status, even without Marner. But things went sideways in a hurry for the team out the gate, and the group never recovered en route to a disastrous season. TSN's Mark Masters has more.

NHL: Kings 3, Canucks 4 (OT)

Jake DeBrusk scored his second goal of the game in overtime as the Canucks beat the Kings. Los Angeles had their five-game winning streak halted, and remain in the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot with one regular-season game still to play.a

NHL: Avalanche 3, Flames 1

Nathan Mackinnon scored his league-leading 53rd goal into an empty net, and MacKenzie Blackwood made 30 saves as the Avs earned their 119th point of the season. Nazem Kadri didn't play in his return to Calgary as the Flames had their eight-game home point streak halted.

NHL: Jets 3, Mammoth 5

Nick Schmaltz scored twice as the Mammoth beat the Jets to secure the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor had a goal and an assist for Winnipeg, who have lost three straight games with one game left in the regular season.

NHL: Ducks 2, Wild 3

Hunter Haight got his first career goal and rookie Jesper Wallstedt auditioned for action in the playoffs with 35 saves, as the Wild finished their regular season by beating the Ducks. Anaheim sits a point behind the Oilers for second in the Pacific Division, and one point ahead of the Kings for the wild card.

Bowness rips Blue Jackets after season finale: ‘These guys, they don’t care’

Blue Jackets head coach Rick Bowness did not hide his anger towards his team following a home loss to the Capitals to close the 2025-26 season. “These guys, they don’t care. Losing is not important enough to them. It doesn’t bother them. How can you go out and play like that? I should have done this a month ago. But this is why we are where we are,” an exasperated Bowness remarked.

NHL: Canadiens 2, Flyers 4

Matvei Michkov had a goal and two assists and Porter Martone had one goal to lead the playoff-bound Flyers to a win over the Canadiens. With the loss, Montreal will start the post-season on the road against the Lightning, while Philly is set to travel to Pittsburgh.

NHL: Devils 0, Bruins 4

Mark Kasetlic scored twice in the first period and Jeremy Swayman earned his second shutout of the season as the Bruins clinched the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Boston will travel to Buffalo for their first round series.

NHL: Capitals 2, Blue Jackets 1

Alex Ovechkin had an assist on the go-ahead goal in what perhaps will be the final game of his record-breaking career as the Capitals defeated the Blue Jackets in the season finale for both teams. Ovechkin is in the final season of his contract and said he is waiting until after the season before deciding on his future.

NHL: Hurricanes 2, Islanders 1

Mark Jankowski scored the go-ahead goal in the third period as the Hurricanes defeated the Islanders. Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for Carolina, and Brandon Bussi made 28 saves to help Carolina finish atop the Eastern Conference. The Canes will face Ottawa in the first round of the playoffs.
