William Nylander is a go for Sweden in their Olympics opener.

The Toronto Maple Leafs winger will play as Tre Kronor takes on hosts Italy at Milano Cortina.

Nylander will skate on the top line with Adrian Kempe and Joel Eriksson Ek.

The Calgary-born Nylander had skated earlier on Wednesday and took part in a power-play drill, but Sweden head coach Sam Hallam wouldn’t commit to his participation.

“I’m not really sure yet ... I need to check with the medical staff and Willy,” Hallam said. “He looked good out there ... We’re not going to risk anything for tonight, but if he feels good he’s going to play”

Nylander, 29, has been dealing with a groin injury that has kept him out of 13 games this season across two stints.

In 40 games this season, Nylander has 18 goals and 34 assists. He is coming off of three-straight 40-plus goal seasons.
