Alphonso Davies will make his return to the squad with Bayern Munich in their Champions League match against Sporting CP on Tuesday.

Davies announced the news to TSN’s Luke Willson in an appearance on Film Never Lies podcast on Monday.

“I’m in the squad tomorrow,” Davies said about his status against Sporting CP. “I’m not playing but I’m on the bench with the team tomorrow so I’m excited for that.

“I’m not sure if I’ll get any minutes. That’s obviously up to the coach however he sees a fit. Obviously, he has his schedule and programming for who goes in and at what times. But I’m just happy to be with the team, on the bench, and being in that environment again.”

The 25-year-old left-back suffered a torn ACL while playing for Canada against the United States in the third-place game at the CONCACAF Nations League earlier this year on March 23.

It was announced not long after that Davies had successful surgery to repair the injury and begin his rehabilitation process.

Davies made his first cap for the Canadian men’s national team in 2017, and has a total of 58 caps for Canada in international play, with 15 goals.

His crowning moment while playing for Canada came at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, when he scored Canada’s first-ever goal in a FIFA World Cup tournament in the second minute of their game against Croatia - a game that Canada would go on to lose 4-1.
