Stephen Eustáquio could be on the move.
Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports Swansea City is closing in on an agreement to sign the Canada midfielder from Porto.
Joseph quotes a transfer fee of £3.4 million with Porto looking to attach a sell-on clause to any deal. A 29-year-old native of Leamington, Ont., Eustáquio is entering the final year of his contract with the Primeira Liga giants, which would reduce the sale price of the player.
Eustáquio initially joined Porto on loan from Pacos de Ferreira in the winter of 2022 with Porto exercising its purchase option that summer. He made 103 league appearances for the club across the previous four seasons. Eustáquio spent the first half of the Major League Soccer season on loan with Los Angeles FC, making 10 appearances.
Eustáquio has played only two minutes in the Porto’s first three league matches this season.
Internationally, Eustáquio has been capped 61 times by Canada. He appeared in all five of Canada’s matches at this summer’s World Cup, famously scoring the winning goal in stoppage time against South Africa in the Round of 32. The goal was Eustáquio’s four international marker.
The Swans, managed by Vitor Matos, have accrued four points from their first two Championship matches of the season.
