Bournemouth boss Marco Rose was denied a first Premier League win after a calamitous mistake by goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic allowed Brentford to claim a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries were on course for a top-flight victory at the fourth time of asking under German coach Rose when goals from Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier overturned Kevin Schade's opener.
But Schade lobbed his second of the afternoon into an unguarded net to maintain the Bees' unbeaten start following a dreadful pass from Petrovic.
It was the fourth time in as many league matches since the summer appointment of Rose that Bournemouth have dropped points from a winning position.
In addition to Petrovic's howler, defender António Silva and winger Rayan were guilty of shocking misses on another frustrating day for the south-coast club, while substitute Ben Gannon-Doak hit the woodwork in stoppage time.
Brentford move on to six points from a possible 12 following a third consecutive draw, while Bournemouth have just three after failing to capitalise on another largely positive performance.

Kluivert claimed the leveller, swivelling to fire through the legs of Jaidon Anthony and into the net from just inside the 18-yard box after the ball broke loose following Kristoffer Ajer's tackle on Evanilson.Brentford wanted a penalty deep into first-half added time when Ajer's goal-bound blast appeared to strike the arm of the falling Adrien Truffert. Referee Jarred Gillett consulted VAR before dismissing the appeals by blowing the half-time whistle.Bournemouth resumed in the ascendancy. Kelleher pushed over from Kluivert, Silva headed narrowly wide and Alex Scott lashed over, before the hosts eventually went in front in the 52nd minute.Silva's searching pass into the area was controlled by Evanilson, who touched the ball back for Tavernier to drill into the bottom right corner.Having finally gained the lead, the Cherries swiftly surrendered it by gifting Brentford a 56th-minute equaliser.Petrovic was under little pressure when he received a back pass from James Hill but he inexplicably played the ball straight to Schade, who expertly lobbed into the empty net.Rayan almost atoned for his first-half miss when he curled narrowly wide before he was replaced for the closing stages by Gannon-Doak after scuffing another opening straight at Kelleher.Winger Gannon-Doak nearly snatched a winner in the third of five added minutes but his deflected effort rebounded off the left post.
