Ismael Kone was stretchered off the pitch early in the second half of Canada’s match against Qatar on Thursday.
The 24-year-old was hurt on a challenge from Qatar’s Assim Madibo in the 54th minute. Kone immediately fell to the ground and was tended to by the medical staff.
He was taken to a local hospital to have his leg stablized, reports TSN’s Matthew Scianitti.
Kone waved to the Vancouver crowd as he was stretchered off the field. Madibo was assessed a red card, putting Qatar down to nine men. Homam Ahmed was assessed the first red card in the 34th minute when he pulled down Tajon Buchanan.
Canada was leading 3-0 at the time of the injury after an early goal from Cyle Larin and a brace from Jonathan David.
