CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Patrick Agyemang scored early in the second half and Kristijan Kahlina made three saves to lead Charlotte FC to a 1-0 victory over Nashville SC on Saturday night.

Charlotte (5-5-2) ended a scoreless duel on a goal by Agyemang in the 52nd minute. Kerwin Vargas notched an assist on Agyemang's third goal of the campaign.

Kahlina had two saves in the first half on the way to his second straight and fourth clean sheet this season. The shutout left Kahlina in a six-way tie for the league lead.

Joe Willis stopped three shots for Nashville (2-4-5). Willis wasn't tested in a scoreless first half.

Charlotte was coming off a 2-0 victory over the visiting Portland Timbers in the first of four home matches this month under first-year manager Dean Smith.

Nashville drilled CF Montreal 4-1 last week to snap a five-match winless streak. The club's only other win this season was 2-1 at home against Charlotte earlier this season.

Charlotte travels to play the Chicago Fire on Wednesday. Nashville returns home to host Toronto FC on Wednesday.
