Canada’s Victoria Mboko was not on the entry list for the US Open, suggesting that her knee injury will keep her out of another Grand Slam.
Mboko, 19, sustained the injury at the Queen’s Club in London last month. The injury forced her to withdraw from Wimbledon and the National Bank Open, where she was set to defend her title from 2025.
The US Open is scheduled for Aug. 30 and will run through Sept. 13.
The Burlington, Ont., native has yet to win a tournament this season after her breakout 2025 in which she skyrocketed into the WTA’s elite, winning a pair of tournaments, including her first 1000-level event in Montreal. She began the year as the world No. 333 and finished as the 18th-ranked player on tour.
Mboko broke into the top-10 for the first time in her young career after a strong start to the year, reaching the round of 16 at the Australian Open, followed by a final appearance at the WTA 1000 tournament in Qatar.
Another pair of quarter-final appearances at the Sunshine Double at Indian Wells and Miami helped her reach a career-best rank of No. 9.
Entering the week of the National Bank Open, Mboko is ranked No. 12.
