On Sunday night, the 2021 BET Awards concluded with a musical tribute to DMX featuring many of the late rapper’s closest collaborators, including Method Man, the Griselda rappers, Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes and members of the Lox. Actor Michael K. Williams also appeared to play the rapper himself.

The tribute involved a medley of many DMX classics, including “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” the Griselda-featuring track “Hood Blues,” “Slippin’,” “Where the Hood At” and “Party Up (Up in Here).”

DMX died in April from a heart attack suffered in April. He was 50 years old. The rapper has been memorialized in many tributes since his passing, and his posthumous album EXODUS was released in May with Swizz Beatz as an executive producer.

Other performers from the 2021 BET Awards included Cardi B, DaBaby, Lil Nas X, Megan thee Stallion, Migos, Tyler, the Creator and more. Jazmine Sullivan won the event’s Album of the Year award for her album Heaux Tales.
