Lynne Roberts’s time with the Los Angeles Sparks is over.
The team confirmed the dismissal of its head coach after two seasons on Friday.
The Sparks finished their season at 16-28 and missed the playoffs by 10 games. It was the sixth straight season in which the team failed to reach the postseason after a run of nine straight appearances.
“We are grateful to Lynne for the commitment and determination she brought to the role, which was evident all the way through our last game last night,” Sparks special advisor Farhan Zaidi said in a statement. “Lynne has cared deeply about our organization and for our players and their development. We sincerely thank her for everything she has invested in the Sparks and wish her and her family the best moving forward.”
Roberts came to the Sparks after a two-decade run in the NCAA at Chico State, Pacific and Utah. She spent nine-plus seasons with the Utes, leaving four games into the 2024-2025 season to take the Sparks job. With Utah, Roberts led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2023.
Roberts finishes her Sparks tenure with a mark of 37-51.
