The Toronto Tempo will try to get back in the win column for the first time in a month when they take on Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings tonight on TSN.
The Tempo (10-22) are one of five expansion teams in WNBA history to have a losing streak of at least nine games, and will look to avoid the unfortunate distinction of reaching double digits.
A fair share of Toronto’s struggles are owed to injuries, as star guard Brittney Sykes has missed almost two months with a plantar fasciitis injury and promising rookie Kiki Rice just returned to the lineup after missing more than two months with an ankle sprain.
Since the Tempo’s last victory on July 12, the team has lost by double digits in eight of their past nine games, bottoming out in a 104-72 dismantling by the Minnesota Lynx on July 30.
Marina Mabrey scored 36 points in the team’s 107-95 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Monday, her seventh game of seven or more 3-point field goals. Her sixth 30-point game in 2026 trails only A’ja Wilson.
The Wings (19-14) enter this game on a three-game slide of their own, seeking to right the ship before the playoffs begin in just over a month.
Bueckers, who is the defending Rookie of the Year and is averaging over 20 points per game this season, dominated in both of the matchups between these two teams earlier in the year.
The Wings won both games in July by 13 points - and Bueckers contributed 34 points, six rebounds and six assists in their second matchup that was played at Bell Centre in Montreal.
With 12 games left on the schedule and the Tempo trailing the Wings for the final playoff spot by 8.5 games in the standings, Toronto’s postseason hopes are all but extinguished.
