Tempo sign Nurse, take Rice with first-ever pick in WNBA Draft; Fudd goes No. 1 to Wings

The Dallas Wings selected UConn star Azzi Fudd with the first overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, pairing the guard with her with former Huskies teammate and last year's top pick Paige Bueckers. The Toronto Tempo took UCLA's Kiki Rice with the sixth overall selection, making her the first draft pick in franchise history. The Tempo made three additional draft picks and also reportedly signed Kia Nurse to a contract on Monday.


Tempo signing Marina Mabrey, Brittney Sykes to max deals

Guards Marina Mabrey and Brittney Sykes have agreed to terms to join the Tempo. With each agreeing to two-year deals at about the max in Year 1, they are the first known million-dollar backcourt pairing under the WNBA's new collective bargaining agreement and a huge splash for the expansion team.
