Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Toronto Argonauts

The Million Dollar Man makes his return from a knee injury with a hefty new paycheque in his pocket. Chad Kelly has the largest contract in CFL history after throwing 24 interceptions in 15 games this season, more than any other QB in over a decade. He also had over five thousand passing yards and 33 touchdown passes while missing three games. The Bombers pass defence allowed the fewest yards through the air this season, but they were tied for the fewest interceptions. They were also near the bottom of the league in sacks. The Bombers might not have to force any turnovers to get them. Kelly’s interceptions can sometimes come gift wrapped. But if Winnipeg can’t convert the presents into points, it won’t matter. With Dru Brown under centre, Winnipeg’s offence has struggled and he’s had his own turnover troubles.

THE PICK: ARGONAUTS -3.5

PLAYER PROP PARLAY: BRADY OLIVEIRA 60+ RUSHING YDS / 2+ RECEPTIONS (-130)

The Bombers only lost by 2 with Brown under centre when these teams last played in week 17. If they’re going to keep it close this afternoon, Brady Oliveira will have to have another big game. He rushed for 139 yards in their last meeting. He’s also had at least 2 catches in three straight games. Regardless of the score, Winnipeg will get the ball to its best player.

Saskatchewan Roughriders at BC Lions

The Lions lost their final two games but they were already locked into second place in the West. In contests that mattered, BC was 9-1 after a brutal 1-5 start. Their only loss between weeks 9 and 19 was in Montreal, a place where no visiting team has won this season. The Lions defence has been elite against the run, but their defensive line is depleted heading into the West Semi. With the defending champs close to full strength, I don’t expect the Riders to relinquish the crown without a fight.

THE PICK: ROUGHRIDERS +6.5

PLAYER PROP: AJ OUELLETTE OVER 11.5 RECEIVING YARDS

Ouellette had five catches for 33 yards in their playoff clinching win in week 20. He also had a 30-yard catch and run in last year’s Grey Cup and a pair of catches in the West Final against the Lions last year. AJ earned his contract and his reputation with big game performances in October and November.
