Blue Jays favourites to win ALCS after Game 4 win, small underdogs to win Game 5

After dropping the opening two games of the American League Championship Series at home, the Toronto Blue Jays have levelled the best-of-seven set at 2-2 following an 8-2 win over the Seattle Mariners in Game 4 on Thursday night.

For the first time since Game 1 of the ALCS, the Blue Jays are the betting favourites on FanDuel to represent the AL in the World Series, sitting at -112 to advance, with the Mariners at -104.

Despite being small favourites to win the series, Toronto is a +102 underdog on FanDuel to win Game 5 before the series moves back to Toronto for Game 6.

Kevin Gausman will get the start for Toronto Friday night. In Game 1 last Sunday, he was pulled after allowing just two runs and three hits over 5.2 innings.

ALCS MVP ODDS UPDATE

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has emerged as the favourite on FanDuel to win ALCS MVP with Seattle’s Jorge Polanco not far behind in odds.

Both players have been pivotal to their teams’ offences through the first four contests.

Guerrero (+320) had a quiet start to the series, going 0-for-7 in the opening two losses, but he’s erupted for six hits – including four extra-base knocks – across Games 3 and 4 to vault into MVP contention.

Polanco (+340) has mirrored that impact for Seattle, delivering four hits and five RBIs in the Mariners’ opening two victories to keep them in the driver’s seat early.

Meanwhile, after entering as a longshot to win the award, Blue Jays shortstop Andres Gimenez now has some of the shortest odds to win ALCS MVP after hitting a home run in Games 3 and 4.
