The advanced metrics, the film breakdowns, the model outputs, insider notes, and the group chat debates.
Whether it’s handicappers, fantasy football managers, or the hardcore football fan, we spend hours consuming NFL content every single week of the season.
The information seems endless.
The volume has never been higher.
Somewhere in all that noise is the signal.
The EDGE, if you will.
More often than we want to admit, the results are decided by the most obvious signal of all: who is healthy, and who is not.
Injuries will be the focus when the Baltimore Ravens host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football.
The Ravens have already featured three different QBs this season, and that number could get to five by the time Jacoby Brissett makes his debut.
Lamar Jackson could very well be done for the season with a thumb injury.
Tyler Huntley is out for the season with turf toe.
Undrafted rookie QB Joe Fagnano finished Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills and is in line to start tonight.
However, Fagnano is dealing with an ankle injury, so we could see Kedon Slovis at some point tonight after he was signed off the Green Bay Packers practice squad.
Meanwhile, Baltimore is finalizing a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for Brissett, but that deal isn’t expected to be completed until the weekend.
The Ravens have gone from the AFC North favourite and a legitimate Super Bowl contender to an afterthought to make the playoffs with a 4-4 record.
What can we expect tonight in Baltimore?
Let’s set the stage and lock in a FanDuel Best Bet for Thursday Night Football in this Morning Coffee column for Thursday November 5th, 2026.
Do The Ravens Have a Chance Against the Jaguars Without Lamar Jackson?
The Ravens are +410 to upset the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football.
That number represents a 19.6 per cent implied chance.
Where would a Baltimore victory rank among the biggest upsets this season?
Only one NFL team has won a game with longer than +400 odds at FanDuel.
Historically, there have been 47 double-digit home underdogs in NFL primetime night games.
Those teams have gone 8-39 straight up and 32-15 against the spread.
The Ravens odds to make the playoffs climbed as high as +750 at FanDuel prior to the trade for Brissett.
Baltimore is +460 to make the playoffs this morning.
Following a 4-1 start, the Ravens have lost three in a row to fall to .500, which leaves them at the bottom of the AFC North standings.
More importantly, losing Jackson long term seriously caps the potential of a team that most believed could contend for an AFC Championship this season.
Tonight, the Ravens will be forced to start the undrafted rookie Fagnano on short rest against a tough opponent in the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars lead the NFL with a plus-85 scoring margin, ranking among the top five in both points per game (28.0 – 5th) on offence and points allowed per game (15.9 – 2nd) on defence.
No team has produced a better first-half scoring margin.
Jacksonville has emerged as the obvious AFC South favourite at -700 at FanDuel.
The Jaguars are also the second choice to finish as the AFC’s No. 1 seed at +490 behind the Buffalo Bills (+130).
Jacksonville cruised to a blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8 and is expected to improve to 6-2 with a win in Baltimore tonight.
With Fagnano at quarterback, the Ravens must hope they can lean on Derrick Henry on the ground and limit the number of possessions for the Jaguars offence.
Zay Flowers has averaged 117.3 receiving yards per game with Jackson at quarterback this season.
He didn’t have a single catch on five targets in Sunday’s loss to the Bills after Jackson left after his first drop back.
Justice Hill led the way with four catches for 20 yards on eight targets.
Mark Andrews had three catches for 14 yards on four targets.
Henry has put up big numbers against the Jaguars in his career, but their run defence has been solid and should have a good idea of what to expect tonight.
However, the Jaguars could be without Davon Hamilton, Travon Walker and Antonio Johnson tonight, which could create a slightly better opportunity for Henry.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville is also dealing with some notable injuries on the offensive side of the football.
Running back Bhayshul Tuten didn’t practice this week and is officially questionable to play tonight.
Fellow back Chris Rodriguez Jr. was also limited in practice because of a hand injury.
Guard Ezra Cleveland is dealing with ankle and knee injuries but is expected to play tonight.
With Tuten banged up and potentially limited even if he does play, I’ll be looking out for Rodriguez props.
As for a FanDuel Best Bet, I’ll lock in Hill 3+ receptions.
Hill has cleared this mark in three straight Ravens losses.
He led the team with eight targets against the Bills, and the Ravens are a 9.5-point underdog for tonight’s game.
Hopefully, he can pick up where he left off last week and pick up at least three catches on Thursday Night Football.
