Road To The 113th Grey Cup continues in Edmonton and Montreal

Published:

The road to the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary continues in Montreal and Edmonton this weekend.

Last week, I ranked the six remaining Grey Cup contenders in the following order.

1. Montreal Alouettes +150

2. Edmonton Elks +240

3. BC Lions +370

4. Toronto Argonauts +550

5. Winnipeg Blue Bombers +1400

6. Saskatchewan Roughriders +1300

I also told you that it was likely last call to bet Montreal at plus money to win the Grey Cup.

It turns out that is the case.

The Alouettes have gone wire-to-wire as the favourite to win the Grey Cup at FanDuel, and their odds to win it all were slashed from +150 to -110 following an upset in the CFL Eastern Semi-Final.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers beat the Toronto Argonauts as a +205 moneyline underdog.

The Bombers, which were +420 to win live at FanDuel down six points at the half, had their odds to win the Grey Cup slashed from +1400 to +650 after the victory.

Winnipeg is +365 to advance any further with a win in Montreal as a 9.5-point underdog on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile in the Western Semi-Final, the BC Lions handled their business with a 33-26 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a 6.5-point favourite.

BC to win the Grey Cup was cut from +370 to +320.

The Lions are -105 to advance with a win in Edmonton in the CFL Western Final on Saturday night.

As impressive as the Elks have looked this season, it’s impossible to forget that they had the longest odds to win the Grey Cup of all nine CFL teams entering the regular season at +1900.

Fast-forward to this weekend’s final four, and it’s easier to understand why BC versus Edmonton is considered a coin toss by the FanDuel traders.

Meanwhile, the Alouettes path to the Grey Cup got a little easier on paper with the Bombers’ upset win, although nobody in Montreal is overlooking Winnipeg.

Let’s set the stage for the CFL Eastern and Western Finals in this Morning Coffee column for Tuesday November 3rd, 2026.

Road To The 113th Grey Cup Continues in Edmonton, Montreal

Nobody expected the Elks to get this far this season.

After missing the playoffs six years in a row, Edmonton’s regular season win total was over/under 7.5 at FanDuel.

The Elks were +1000 to win the CFL West Division and +1900 to win the Grey Cup at FanDuel.

Instead, Edmonton flipped the script with a 13-5 record.

Now the Elks are one home win away from a trip to the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary on November 15th.

Edmonton got here on the strength of a defence that gave up the fewest points and fewest yards this season.

That unit has had two weeks to prepare for a tough test versus Nathan Rourke and a Lions offence that can score in bunches when they get into a rhythm.

Rourke’s ability to buy time with his legs and make plays on the run give BC a unique edge every time they step on to the field.

After watching him throw for 366 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Saskatchewan, I’m interested to see what the Elks can do to slow him down.

If the Edmonton defence stumbles, the pressure will be on Cody Fajardo and the offence to step up.

Fajardo set career-highs with 4,788 passing yards and 25 touchdown passes this season.

He also engineered six game-winning drives.

Saturday will be Edmonton’s first home playoff game in 4003 days dating back to the 2015 Western Final.

Looking at the Elks -1.5 and a total at over/under 57.5, nobody will be surprised if the CFL Western Final is decided by a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the CFL Eastern Final isn’t expected to be nearly as competitive, with the Alouettes at -9.5.

Montreal has gone wire-to-wire as the Grey Cup favourite and should benefit from home field advantage and an extra week of preparation thanks to a playoff bye.

It’s interesting to note that Brady Oliveira rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown in a 44-28 win over the Alouettes back in Week 13.

Montreal avenged that loss with a 37-10 statement win in the Week 18 rematch, but the blueprint is there for how the Bombers can keep the Eastern Final close.

Oliveira had a big game on the ground and Zach Collaros threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions in Winnipeg’s win over Montreal.

Ontaria Wilson, Tim White, and Tommy Nield combined for 272 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The Bombers couldn’t slow down Davis Alexander, but their offence was able to outscore the Alouettes.

Whether or not Collaros plays in the Eastern Final is a major storyline to monitor this week.

Dru Brown threw for threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s win over Toronto, but he also threw two interceptions.

It’s fair to say that Winnipeg was fortunate Chad Kelly was sidelined by an injury in a game that was ultimately decided by a field goal.

The Eastern Final could be a much different story.

Alexander is healthy and is 16-0 all-time at home.

Tyson Philpot just produced one of the best regular season stat lines by a wide receiver in CFL history with 124 receptions for 1809 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The fact that another wide receiver on the same team also caught 13 touchdown passes in Tyler Snead is a testament to the firepower that Montreal will roll out.

The Alouettes are -110 to win the Grey Cup at FanDuel.

If you think Montreal takes care of business versus Winnipeg this weekend, it might make sense to jump on the Alouettes to win it all at -110 knowing they will likely be an even bigger favourite for the actual finale.

Which team do you think is the best bet to win it all?

Let us know who you think will reach the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary and ultimately win it all in the vote below.
