Heading into the regular season finale this Saturday against the Ottawa Redblacks, the CFL-leading Toronto Argonauts are preparing for the playoffs.

As a result, star quarterback Chad Kelly, who earned the team nomination for the CFL's Outstanding Player Award on Wednesday, will dress but not play in the nation's capital on Saturday.

The 29-year-old took reps in practice on Wednesday, however TSN's Matthew Scianitti expects Cameron Dukes and Bryan Scott to get most of the playing time behind centre in the finale.

Kelly threw for 4,123 yards with 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions over 17 games with the Argos in 2023, his first full season in the CFL as a starter.

In other news, Scianitti reports that veteran running back Andrew Harris has been practising with the team this week as he is nearing the end of his stint on the six-game injured list.

Scianitti notes that Harris is "running with a lot of energy" and that there is excitement at practice for his return.

The 36-year-old Harris hasn't played since Sept. 15 due to a knee injury suffered against the Montreal Alouettes.

Harris has ran for 229 yards with two touchdowns over 12 games with the Argonauts this season, his second in Toronto.

The Argonauts, are 15-2 on the season and will look to defend their Grey Cup title from a season ago in November. The 18-time Grey Cup champions have already clinched a bye to the Divisional Finals on Nov. 11.

Scianitti reports the Argos will be off until next Wednesday following their season finale this weekend.
