The Montreal Alouettes have made a major addition on the defensive side, as the team announced Tuesday that they have signed former All-Star linebacker Micah Awe for the 2026 season.

Awe, 32, spent last season with the BC Lions, where he recorded a league-high 114 defensive tackles along with one forced fumble and two interceptions.

The eight-year veteran was a CFL All-Star in 2023 with the Calgary Stampeders.

“The acquisition of Micah Awe will give us added depth on defense,” said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia in a press release. “He knows the league and our organization, and he has always prepared properly. His professionalism will help guide our younger players.”

Awe will be returning for his second stint with the Alouettes, after he played 13 games with the team in the 2022 season.

Over his eight years in the CFL, the native of Lagos, Nigeria has made stops with the Lions, Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Redblacks, Alouettes and Stampeders.

Awe has 568 tackles, six sacks, seven interceptions and seven forced fumbles over 118 career CFL games.
